Josh is a partner in Davies’ Corporate practice with a focus on fund formation and mergers & acquisitions. Josh has extensive experience in fund formation and regularly represents and advises fund sponsors and principals in connection with the establishment and structuring of private equity and private credit funds and other pooled investment vehicles, and with respect to the structuring and implementation of their compensation arrangements and governance. He also advises companies and private equity firms on the acquisition and disposition of private businesses and individual assets in Canada and internationally and on the structuring of joint ventures and shareholder arrangements. He works with clients in a number of industries, including the private fund, mining, industrial and technology sectors. Josh is co-leader of AIMA’s Alternative Credit Council Canada. On June 30, 2017, Barrick Gold Corp. (Barrick) completed the sale of a 50-per-cent interest in the Veladero mine in San Juan province, Argentina, to Shandong Gold Mining Co., Ltd. (SDG) for US$960 million. Following the sale, each of Barrick and SDG holds an indirect 50-per-cent interest in Minera Argentina Gold S.R.L., the joint venture company that owns the Veladero mine.
