Lorne Segal is a partner in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office, practising in the areas of M&A, restructuring & insolvency, banking & finance, private equity and corporate commercial law. He represents private and public companies ranging from owner-operated businesses to multinational corporations. In the areas of M&A, corporate commercial and private equity, Lorne has a wealth of experience in various sectors, including defence, security, aerospace, tech, life sciences, food & agriculture, telecommunications, retail, manufacturing, mining, distribution, pharma, recycling, software, textiles, telemarketing and financial services. In the banking & finance sector, Lorne represents domestic and foreign banks, insurance companies, merchant banks, private equity and venture capitalists in mid-market and larger transactions. In the area of restructuring & insolvency, Lorne represents creditors, debtors, investors, and trustees/receivers. His experience includes distressed M&A. He completed a four-year term as Gowling WLG’s Firm Managing Partner, Internal, and as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. He also previously served on the firm’s Board of Trustees. In his management role, Lorne led the deal that created Gowling WLG, combining Gowlings with UK-based Wragge Lawrence Graham.
