Luc Deshaies, AdE is a partner in Gowling WLG's Montréal office, practising employment and labour law. Luc has acted before all judicial and administrative tribunals interested in labour matters in Québec. He has advised employers whose main activities are based in Québec, but also in Canada and abroad, as part of mergers or transfer matters. He has extensive experience in matters related to “independent contractors” in the context of financial advisors, representing financial institutions with success in front of administrative and civil courts (Court of Appeal, Superior Court, Canada Tax Court, and Labour Board). Luc has also represented Aboriginal communities (principally the Cree Nation) in labour and employment matters in front of the various labour tribunals of federal and provincial jurisdiction. He practises in English and French. He is also admitted at Barreau de Paris and has been recognized in Chambers Canada, The Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory, and The Best Lawyers in Canada. He is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. Luc is currently President of the national committee – Canada of the International Association of Lawyers (UIA).
