Marc Richard is a partner in the Gowling WLG Ottawa office, practising in the areas of patents, trademarks and copyright, with a particular focus on patent litigation. Marc has acted for clients on numerous patent matters relating to pharmaceuticals, oil & gas, electronics, food products, agriculture, mining, consumer goods and manufacturing. He appears regularly before the Federal Court and has presented before the Federal Court of Appeal, the Ontario Superior and Divisional Courts and the Trademarks Opposition Board and has appeared before the SCC. He has represented clients in patent infringement trials, applications under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations, judicial review proceedings, references as to damages and domain name disputes. He also advises clients on regulatory and administrative law matters relating to pharmaceuticals and other products including the listing of patents on the Patent Register and licensing. In addition, Marc assists clients in obtaining patent and trademark protection in Canada as well as assessments relating to infringement and validity. Marc is a part-time Professor at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Common Law. He has been recognized in Managing Intellectual Property IP Stars and The Best Lawyers in Canada.
