Mark Youden is a partner at Gowling WLG whose practice spans environmental, regulatory, and Indigenous law in both advocacy and advisory capacities. Called in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Yukon, he advises industry, government, and Indigenous clients. Mark regularly appears before superior and appellate courts in BC, Alberta and Yukon, as well as the Federal Court and the Supreme Court of Canada (Applications for Leave). Outside of the courtroom, Mark acts before administrative tribunals, including the BC Environmental Appeal Board and Utilities Commission, the Alberta Environmental Appeals Board and Utilities Commission, and the Environmental Protection Tribunal of Canada. He also represents clients in arbitrations and other ADR processes. On the advisory side, Mark counsels on spills management, waste diversion and extended producer responsibility, environmental assessment and impact benefit agreements, energy efficiency, and marine environmental issues. Before law, Mark earned a Master of Environmental Science and worked as an environmental consultant. He has been recognized in Chambers Global, Chambers Canada and The Best Lawyers in Canada.
