Martha Savoy is a partner in Gowling WLG's global Intellectual Property Group and the leader of the firm's national Trademark Group. Based in Ottawa, she focuses her practice on trademark and copyright enforcement, litigation, and prosecution. Martha has experience helping some of the world’s most valuable brands protect and enforce their IP assets around the globe. She has an extensive track record in the food & beverage, sporting equipment, apparel & footwear, technology, manufacturing, and media sectors. Martha seeks resolution of disputes where possible and crafts agreements that maintain protection for her clients' intellectual property. When litigation is required, Martha represents clients before the Federal Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Appeal, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and the Canadian Trademarks Opposition Board. She registers trademarks and copyright with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office and manages her clients’ global trademark portfolios. Martha is active in the global and Canadian trademark communities. She is a member and former Chair of the International Trademark Association's Enforcement Committee.
