Maureen Gillis is a partner in McCarthy Tétrault LLP’s Business Law group and a member of its Private Equity, Power, Technology and Fintech groups. Her practice focuses on domestic and cross-border mergers & acquisitions, corporate finance, and corporate and commercial matters. Based in Vancouver, she practised in the firm’s New York office between 2019 and 2022 and has particular experience advising on cross-border transactions. Maureen’s decade of prior experience in the technology industry with companies ranging from start-ups to international software companies informs her pragmatic, business-oriented approach and her appreciation for complex, rapidly evolving industries. Illustrative transactions include advising Cameco Corporation in its US$7.875 billion acquisition, with Brookfield Renewable, of Westinghouse Electric; assisting US private equity funds with multiple Canadian acquisitions and sales; advising an asset manager in its acquisition and sale of wind energy projects; and representing a fintech company in multiple financing rounds. She also advised a participant in the US$4 billion LaGuardia Airport Central Terminal Building Replacement Project.
