Michael A. Kershaw

Michael is a partner in the Real Estate group. He maintains a broad real estate transactional practice, with a particular emphasis on real estate financing. Michael’s experience includes syndicated facilities, project and construction financings and commercial mortgage lending, as well as acquisitions and dispositions, leasing and property development matters. Michael has experience on transactions across a broad range of real estate asset classes, including multifamily housing, condo construction, industrial and residential subdivisions, self-storage, hospitality properties, office and commercial properties. He also regularly acts for lenders on mortgages insured by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and advises both lenders and borrowers on the regulatory aspects of CMHC-insured financing. Before joining the firm, Michael was a partner at a leading national law firm, served as Assistant General Counsel for a private REIT and worked as an Associate City Solicitor for the City of Guelph. His in-house experience across both the private and public sectors enables him to deliver practical, focused advice to a diverse client base.
