Partner in the Municipal and Land Development Group at Goodmans. Practice spans a wide variety of matters, including building permits and approvals, property assessment and taxation, land use planning and development applications, development charges, and expropriations. Extensive experience providing advice in relation to the Building Code Act, 1992, the Ontario Building Code, and applicable law related to the issuance of building permits, including the Planning Act, Ontario Heritage Act, Environmental Protection Act, and the Development Charges Act, 1997. Regularly works on complex permitting issues and finds efficient and effective solutions. Also drafts development related agreements, including conditional building permit agreements, development charge agreements, and limiting distance agreements. Has regularly been a guest lecturer in the area of building regulation for the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law clinical legal education externship on Municipal Government Lawyering. Recognized by The Best Lawyers in Canada for Expropriation Law and Municipal Law. Previously was a Solicitor with the City of Toronto, where he provided legal advice to City Council, Toronto’s Chief Building Official, and a variety of City Divisions, Agencies, Boards, and Commissions.
