Sandra Barton, a partner in Gowling WLG’s Toronto office, is a trial lawyer practising civil and commercial litigation. Her practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, class action defence, product liability, contract, shareholder, commercial real estate, defamation, professional liability defence, and trademark and copyright disputes. Sandra has represented clients before all levels of courts and in private arbitrations, in local and multijurisdictional disputes. In so doing, Sandra works closely with clients and counsel in the US and throughout Canada to develop cogent, cost-effective litigation strategies. Sandra is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has been ranked by several publications as a top-class action litigator and as a top commercial litigator. A sought-after trial advocacy instructor, Sandra has trained lawyers across North America in a range of trial and appellate skills. She has served as an adjunct professor at Osgoode Hall Law School and is a lead instructor in its annual Intensive Trial Advocacy Workshop for lawyers across Canada. Sandra is also a visiting instructor at the University of Notre Dame and regularly trains lawyers for The Advocates' Society.
