Shawn Doyle is the leader of McCarthy Tétrault LLP’s Latin America group, as well as a senior member of the firm’s Global Metals and Mining group. As a seasoned international transactional lawyer, Shawn’s practice focuses on all aspects of the metals and mining industry in Latin America. His broader background includes experience living and working in the United States, Europe, and Asia. However, he is currently based in Chile, a country he has lived in, on and off, over a period of decades. Shawn specializes in mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, capital markets, and commercial transactions. Shawn’s recent experience includes advising Glencore in the US$154.9 Million purchase of an 18.75% interest in Minera Agua Rica Alumbrera in Argentina from Newmont Corporation. As an expert in Latin American affairs and the global metal and mining industry, Shawn has been interviewed by CNBC and has spoken at various events and conferences. Shawn also has mining operational experience, having been KGHM’s country manager for Chile for more than three years. This sets him apart from many other mining lawyers.
