Shawn Smith

Shawn Smith is the head of the Technology Group and member of the Privacy & Data Protection Group. Shawn’s practice focuses on information technology, privacy (including Canada's anti-spam legislation), e-commerce (including consumer protection), artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies (smart contracts, blockchain, robotics, automation, quantum computing, etc.). Shawn regularly advises clients on complex business process outsourcings, service arrangements, technology exploitation (including development, commercialization and licensing), transformational procurements (public and private) and domestic and cross-border acquisitions and divestitures involving technology companies, businesses and assets. Shawn has experience assisting with technology issues across a broad range of industries, including financial services, insurance, energy, mining, telecommunications, postal service, aviation, manufacturing, retail and healthcare.
