Stephen Pike is a senior legal advisor to global and Canadian businesses. Stephen provides advice on M&A, corporate governance (including ESG and CSR), transactions, operations and risk management issues, supply chain, product distribution and liability, marketing, licensing, manufacturing, and corporate law matters. He regularly advises businesses entering the Canadian market on acquiring a Canadian business, establishing a new Canadian business, and bringing new products to the Canadian market. Stephen is the sole Canadian contributor to the American Bar Association (ABA) Business Law Section's book A Director's Handbook: A Field Guide to 101 Situations Commonly Encountered in the Boardroom, co-authoring the chapters on "Managing Reputational Risk," "Governing the Multinational Corporation," and "Enterprise Risk Management." Stephen holds the ICDD designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. He is the vice-Chair of the Corporate Social Responsibility Law Committee of the Business Law Section of the ABA and speaks and writes frequently on ESG issues such as directors’ duties and the board of directors’ role in ESG oversight including modern slavery and forced and child labour in supply chains.
