Partner in the firm’s Toronto office. Practice focuses on corporate, commercial and contractual disputes; securities litigation; franchise/dealership disputes; and professional liability. Has developed an expertise in professional negligence, electronic discovery, and the use of technology in litigation. Has appeared as trial and appellate counsel before all levels of court in Ontario, the Supreme Court of Canada, and various administrative tribunals and arbitration panels. A frequent writer and speaker on matters of substantive law, trial advocacy, e-discovery and information management, and officers’ and directors’ liability. Teaches regular substantive and practical sessions for Queen’s University Faculty of Law (trial advocacy, medical malpractice), the Directors College (DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University), Osgoode Professional Development (Osgoode Hall Law School), The Advocates' Society, and the Canadian Bar Association (Ontario). A graduate of the Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific (IB), the University of Toronto (BA, MA), the University of Windsor (LLB), and the University of Detroit-Mercy (JD). Admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1998. Thomas was called to the PEI Bar in 2018.
