A litigator in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office, Todd Burke’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, professional liability and insurance defence. Todd’s crisis management perspective allows clients to manage both legal and reputational risk. In over 30 years of practice, he has represented national and international clients in sectors including tech, manufacturing, defence, transportation, health and finance as well as public entities including Crown Corporations and Agents and not-for-profit associations. His litigation practice involves disputes arising from M&A transactions, tech (including software implementations and AI), class actions (defence), real estate, shareholder issues, environmental contamination, product liability, transportation matters and leading corporate investigations. Co-Leader of the firm’s International Arbitration practice, Todd also has extensive experience in domestic and international arbitration particularly in the commercial and tech areas. He has been recognized in The BestLawyers in Canada as well as Benchmark Litigation Canada and received Lexology’s 2021 Client Choice Litigation Award for Canada. Todd was named in the Thomson Reuters Stand-out Lawyers 2023, 2024 and 2025 lists. He is one of six members of the firm’s International Board.
