Tzen is a partner in our Toronto office, National Practice Group Leader of McCarthy Tétrault’s Real Property & Planning Group, and a member of the firm’s Construction Law, Securitization and Asia Groups. Tzen maintains a general real estate practice, with a particular emphasis on real estate financings (including private placements (mortgage bonds), credit tenant financings, syndicated bank facilities, project financing and commercial mortgage lending), acquisitions and sales, property development and commercial leasing (including solar panel rooftop leases). Has extensive experience in the area of public offerings/private placements of commercial mortgage-backed securities.
On June 30, 2017, Stelco Inc. (Stelco), formerly U.S. Steel Canada Inc., emerged from Companies’ Creditors Arrangements Act (CCAA) proceedings through the implementation of a CCAA plan. This involved the compromise of more than $2 billion of debt and the restructuring of approximately $2 billion of pension and benefit obligations.
