Wally Braul's practice focuses on energy, environmental, and Indigenous law litigation, regulatory proceedings, and commercial transactions. Wally frequently acts as defence counsel in complex civil actions, prosecutions, and environmental appeal tribunals in BC and Alberta respecting fisheries, oil spills, tailings ponds, and contaminated sites. He is also often asked to obtain regulatory approvals for proposed major oil, shale gas, mining, LNG, pipeline, and renewable energy projects. He has written numerous publications on Indigenous, energy, and environmental law and drafted BC’s contaminated sites legislation, regulations, and approval system. Frequently speaks at conferences on energy, Indigenous, and environmental law. Former Adjunct Professor of environmental law at the University of British Columbia (Faculty of Law and School of Community and Regional Planning) and University of Victoria (Faculty of Law). Called to the Bar in BC and Alberta, Wally also holds a master’s degree in urban and regional planning.
