Ana Badour has returned to McCarthy Tétrault LLP as head of its financial institutions regulatory practice, as co-leader of its fintech practice alongside Christine Ing and Lori Stein, and as a Toronto-based partner in its business law group.

“Ana has long been a leader in the Fintech space, with deep knowledge of the regulatory landscape and strong connections across the industry,” said Matt Cumming, partner and co-leader of the firm’s business law group, in a news release.

McCarthy Tétrault shared that Badour can deliver practical, commercial advice to clients navigating complex and shifting regulatory frameworks.

“She understands both the frameworks and how they operate in practice, which is exactly what clients need as they pursue innovation,” said Richard O’Doherty, partner and co-leader of the firm’s business law group, in the news release.

“I’m excited to rejoin McCarthy Tétrault and to work with colleagues across the Firm to support clients navigating innovation in financial services,” Badour added.

Badour has delivered regulatory advice regarding financial services M&A transactions, the establishment and licensing of regulated entities, consumer protection, anti-money laundering compliance, payments and credit card programs, and the creation and structuring of financial services platforms.

Her client base has encompassed established financial institutions, new entrants, foreign financial institutions, emerging fintech companies and investors, and other players in the financial services ecosystem.

“Her return bolsters our Fintech platform and enhances our ability to support clients as they develop, partner and scale innovative financial services solutions in an increasingly complex market,” Cumming said.

“The Firm’s national platform and collaborative approach provide an excellent foundation to help clients address complex regulatory and commercial challenges,” Badour added.
