The Association of Corporate Counsel has crowned Analog Devices, Inc., Medtronic, and Rovensa Group as its 2026 ACC Value Champions.
The corporate law departments of these organizations received the accolade for their efficiency-boosting and cost-saving approaches to legal departments. Analog Devices and Medtronic are US-based, while Rovensa Group operates in Portugal.
Analog Devices, Inc.
Analog Devices overhauled its legal and risk optimization function after a significant acquisition to scale globally while enhancing efficiency and governance. It collaborated with UpLevel Ops to develop and lead a complete operational redesign that covered matter intake, outside counsel management, budgeting discipline, and governance frameworks.
The Analog Devices LRO team also worked with Checkbox to construct and implement enterprise-wide, no-code workflows and an AI-enabled chatbot that streamlined routine requests and facilitated self-service throughout the company. Analog Devices saved considerable costs, boosted budget predictability, and cut manual effort; moreover, the LRO function was positioned to align with Analog Devices’ international growth strategy.
Medtronic
Medtronic redesigned the freedom to operate analysis process in its intellectual property function and launched a dedicated in-house FTO center of excellence. It worked with an AI-powered prior art and claim charting platform Crane Patents to speed up early-stage patent analysis and bolster work product consistency; this reduced Medtronic’s reliance on outside counsel considerably while enhancing internal capacity and throughput.
The company enhanced turnaround times and budget predictability, with attorneys concentrating on high-value legal judgment and strategic risk assessment.
Rovensa Group
Rovensa designed and implemented a unified legal operating model in a highly decentralized company with over 2,700 employees that spanned over 90 countries, over 75 entities, and 11 acquisitions. A global legal support hub was established for all legal matters under this model; it also incorporated document management, automated e-signature, and standardized templates, playbooks, and signing-authority rules.
Rovensa also rationalized external counsel use, consolidated providers by jurisdiction, and set disciplined scoping and budgeting processes.
“Analog Devices, Medtronic, and Rovensa Group are demonstrating how modern legal teams can deliver measurable cost savings, improve predictability, and better align with business priorities — proving that innovation in legal operations is no longer optional, but essential to creating value for today’s organizations,” said Jason L. Brown, ACC’s president and CEO, in a statement.
The awardees will be honored at the ACC Legal Ops Con, which will be held in Chicago on April 20. The ACC Value Champions program began in 2012.
