Janie Béïque, Fonds de solidarité FTQ’s president and CEO, has received the Canadian Business Leader of the Year award for Montreal at the 2026 Canadian Business Leadership Awards.

She joined CPPIB president and CEO John Graham, TC Energy president and CEO François Poirier, and Futura Corporation founder Amar Doman; they nabbed the Canadian Business Leader of the Year accolades in Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver, respectively.

Béïque began leading Fonds de solidarité FTQ on April 1, 2021 after her predecessor, Gaétan Morin, retired. She initially joined the company as vice president, legal affairs, and corporate secretary in 2000.

She went on to become executive vice president, investment; chief of investments and strategic investment initiatives; senior vice president, industries, entertainment and consumer goods; senior vice president, natural resources, industries and consumer goods; and senior vice president, new economy. Prior to moving in-house, she was a partner at McCarthy Tétrault LLP, specializing in mergers and acquisitions and securities laws.

Royal Bank of Canada board chair Jacynthe Côté secured the Lifetime Achievement award for Montreal. Linamar executive chair Linda Hasenfratz won the award for Toronto, while Werklund Ventures founder and executive chair Dave Werklund got the same award for Calgary. Jim Pattison Group founder Jim Pattison received the award for Vancouver.

Alimentation Couche-Tard founder and executive board chairman Alain Bouchard received the New International Business Leader of the Year Honouree accolade for Montreal.

“Business leadership in Canada has always been about more than profit — it’s about purpose and progress. Business leaders have the long-term vision, the knowledge and the expertise to truly drive economic change and create prosperity for Canadians,” said Candice Laing, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s president and CEO, in a statement. “The leaders we celebrate this year remind us that when businesses invest in their people, their communities, and their country, Canada moves forward. They prove that national prosperity and business success are inseparable.”

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce announced the 2026 Canadian Business Leadership Award winners earlier this month. The awards will be presented on May 21, 2026 in Montreal; on September 17, 2026 in Calgary; and on October 15, 2026 in Vancouver. A date has yet to be announced for Toronto.
