Fasken has welcomed Paul Reid as a partner in its litigation and dispute resolution group, based in the firm's Tsuut’ina office in Alberta.
Reid, a member of the Nisga'a Nation in northwestern British Columbia, brings experience in wills and estates litigation, commercial litigation and Indigenous legal matters. He previously served as a partner at a leading Alberta law firm.
His practice focuses on complex disputes involving estates, trusts, governance and succession matters. He advises individuals, fiduciaries and financial institutions, particularly in estate and trust litigation.
Reid has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta and British Columbia, as well as the Federal Court and various regulatory boards. His experience includes handling sensitive and high-stakes estate and trust disputes.
“We are delighted to welcome Paul to Fasken,” said Alex Kotkas, managing partner of Fasken's Alberta region. “Paul has built an outstanding reputation as a trusted advocate and advisor in complex litigation matters. His deep experience in estate and trust disputes, combined with his work involving Indigenous legal matters, further strengthens our ability to serve clients across Alberta and beyond.”
Reid earned his Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia in 2013. He also serves as acting chair of the Nisgaa Administration Decisions Review Board.
According to the firm, Reid's arrival reflects Fasken's continued growth and expansion in Tsuut’ina. The firm's office sits within the Taza development on Tsuut’ina Nation lands.
Fasken established the office to strengthen its connections with Indigenous communities and provide an accessible meeting place for Indigenous groups, businesses and organizations.
“As our Tsuut’ina office continues to grow, we remain focused on building a strong local presence and expanding the services available to clients throughout the region,” Kotkas said. “Paul’s practice and experience align exceptionally well with that vision, and we are excited to have him join our team.”
