Thomas J. Moran has moved from Norton Rose Fulbright to the litigation partnership at DLA Piper Canada.
He brings his experience representing financial institutions in high-value investment and business tort litigation, as well as for shareholders, directors, and founders in governance and control disputes.
Moran has worked on disputes arising from real estate and development projects, joint ventures, private equity and investment structures, forestry and natural resources, technology commercialization, and other complex commercial relationships. He has tackled urgent and business-critical matters like injunctions, emergency applications, and strategic pre-litigation risk management.
He has been retained for disputes involving major financial, reputational, or operational risk. His clients have included public and private companies, investors, boards, and business owners.
Moran has advised on matters involving corporate governance, shareholder and partnership disputes, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, contractual disputes, and contentious M&A-related claims. He has assisted clients with sensitive disputes, internal conflicts, and crisis situations.
He has served as counsel before the Supreme Court of Canada and all levels of British Columbia court, arbitral tribunals, and administrative decision-makers. Lexpert ranked him as a repeatedly recommended lawyer in the “Forestry Law” category given his experience in forestry, energy, and natural resources litigation.
Moran practised with Norton Rose Fulbright for over nine years, according to LinkedIn. He once chaired the Canadian Bar Association’s civil litigation section in Vancouver.
He logged a six-year stint with Bull Housser an associate between May 2010 and December 2016. He holds a bachelor of arts in English language and literature from the University of Alberta and a JD in law from the University of British Columbia.
Moran was admitted to the BC bar in 2010. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Law Society of British Columbia, and the Vancouver Bar Association.
