Canadian Law Awards 2022: Event Highlights

Legal professionals from across Canada flocked to a sold-out Arcadian Court in Toronto for the Canadian Law Awards, making it the first ever in-person event since its launch in 2020.

The hotly-anticipated gala event, which sold out weeks in advance, recognized the best and brightest from the Canadian legal industry during the past year – one that was every bit as eventful for the country’s leading law firms, in-house legal teams, and individual lawyers as the previous one.

Lexpert would like to thank all of those who made this year’s event such a roaring success including our esteemed sponsors, attendees, and judges in each category.

Speaker1: [00:00:01] We are sold out. Tonight, I want to welcome you to the first in-person annual Canadian Law Awards presented by Lexpert.

Speaker2: [00:00:24] It's obvious question How does it feel to win both awards?

Andrew Sunter: [00:00:26] It's great. I think these are words lawyers don't kind of do awards, and we don't think of it that way. But I think it's really important to be recognized and to recognize peers and hard work. And so I do think there's some real benefit to these awards to recognize what people are doing across the country. And these deals are deals that shape Canada.

Nadia Effendi: [00:00:44] Well, it's an honor. I think that just seeing my name on that list with all the other awardees was very humbling. I feel very honored that, you know, the judges have recognized all the work I've done this past year.

Thomas Santram: [00:01:11] You know what? It feels great because this is for the entire team. All the work we've done over the last couple of years, it's been a real team effort and I love that everyone on the team gets to share this award. It's not just for me.

Anik Trudel: [00:01:26] I'm so proud for the team. It's been a very intense two years, so I think the whole team will be really proud to receive this award. It's a great recognition for a reputation as well as our reputation outside of Canada.

Ena Chadha: [00:01:42] I'm so honored to be with such a group of incredible women. Like it blows my mind that I could be recognized amongst these incredible women who have been fighting the fight of so many different battles.

Jane Langford: [00:01:58] As I said, you know what? It's the little moments that count. It's it's being aware of who's around you and giving opportunities, opening doors, maybe whispering in someone's ear. Those are the moments that really count, not the big things.

Stephanie Vaccari: [00:02:10] This is honestly amazing. The energy, the excitement. Everybody is just so excited to be back in a room together live.

Wayne Egan: [00:02:22] It's fantastic. I like laughed when there was a young lawyer from our firm that was here and she said, Oh, this looks like it might be a really good party.
