Gowlings Awarded Major World Bank-Financed Project in Russia

Gowling, Strathy & Henderson has been awarded a $2.8 million contract to advise and assist the Russian Foundation for Legal Reform in expanding and promoting the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in the Russian Federation. During the project, professionals from PricewaterhouseCoopers will be providing financial, administrative and logistical advice and support.

The project is being financed as part of a loan from the World Bank, which focuses on major legal reform initiatives in Russia. Gowlings partner Robert M. Nelson is in charge of the project. Nelson is an Ottawa-based litigator and ADR specialist, former executive director of the Arbitration and Mediation Institute of Canada and head of Gowlings’ own ADR Practice group.
