Brookfield Power Wind Prince LP Closes Financing of Prince I and Prince II Wind Farms

On July 21, 2006, Brookfield Power Wind Prince LP, a subsidiary of Brookfield Power Inc., completed a $300 million construction facility for the Prince I and Prince II wind generating facilities. The partnership (or a predecessor) entered into a 20-year renewable energy supply contract with Ontario Power Authority for each project. The projects will be constructed in part by S&C Electric Canada Ltd. and in part by Mortenson Canada Corporation.
The Prince I wind farm, with commercial operation scheduled for August 2006, will include 66 GE wind turbines with 99 MW of power generation capacity. The Prince II wind farm, with commercial operation scheduled for December 2006, will include 60 GE wind turbines with 90 MW of power generation capacity. Both projects are located near Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
The financing was provided by a syndicate of lenders led by Royal Bank of Canada (also the administrative agent) and The Bank of Nova Scotia (also the syndication agent). Royal Bank of Canada and Scotia Capital were the co-lead underwriters.
