Gennum Purchases LightCharger Portfolio

Gennum Corp., a producer of silicon integrated circuits and hybrid circuits for the video and hearing instrument markets, purchased from Ottawa-based SiGe Semiconductor Inc. intellectual property and product-related assets associated with SiGe’s LightCharger® portfolio of optical networking integrated circuits. The UK-based development team also joined Gennum. The transaction closed on May 10, 2004 and the amount is undisclosed.

Gennum was represented by John Mackie, general counsel, and Blake, Cassels & Graydon, with a team that included John Tuzyk (corporate), Jeff Trossman and Sheldon Vanderkooy (tax), Gary Jessop and Randy Proulx (corporate) and Terry Leier (intellectual property).

SiGe was represented by Fraser Milner Casgrain, with a team that included Tom Houston and Monique Lacasse (corporate) and Tom Reaume (technology).
