Shaw Acquires Enmax Envision

Shaw Communications Inc. (“Shaw”) completed its previously announced acquisition of ENMAX Envision Inc. (“Envision”) from ENMAX Corporation (“ENMAX”) for a purchase price of approximately $225 million.

Envision was ENMAX's high-speed data communications subsidiary, operating one of Calgary's largest fibre-optic networks. Envision was re-named Shaw Envision Inc. immediately following the acquisition.

Shaw's legal transaction team included an internal team comprising Peter Johnson, Troy Moller, Shelley Molyneaux, Anjali Inman, Paula Albers and Loralee Smith, with representation provided by a Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP's team that included Vincent Mercier, Brett Seifred and Ryan MacDermid (corporate/ M&A); Raj Juneja (tax); John Bodrug and Elisa Kearney (competition) and Natasha vandenHoven (pensions).

ENMAX's legal transaction team included an internal team comprising Jeff Piercy, Lynn McRae, Janelle Donohue and Sarah Stevens, with representation provided by a Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP's team that included Alan Jochelson, Martin Mix, Frank Sur (corporate/M&A); Richard Myers (banking); Jennifer Hanna (tax); Ian Macdonald (competition) and Daniel Hayhurst and Birch Miller (pensions/employment).
