Shantona represents both individual and institutional clients in civil and commercial litigation, and has particular expertise in appeals. Her experience includes commercial disputes, negligence, class actions, judicial review, civil procedure, professional liability, administrative, and constitutional law. She has been counsel in over 25 cases at the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Divisional Court, and has successfully argued at the Supreme Court of Canada. Shantona also represents clients before the Superior Court of Justice and administrative tribunals. The Chambers Guide to Canada’s Leading Lawyers describes Shantona as follows: “Shantona Chaudhury has a rising profile in the legal community. She is increasingly active on litigation files in a range of areas, including commercial, administrative and constitutional disputes. Shantona is the co-Executive Director of the Supreme Court Advocacy Institute, a national non-profit organization offering advocacy training to counsel appearing before the Supreme Court of Canada. She is a former law clerk to Justice Ian Binnie of the Supreme Court of Canada. She is bilingual and was called to the Bars of Ontario and Québec in 2007.
