Anu is a partner in the firm’s Litigation and Tax groups in Toronto. He has a national practice representing leading corporations and financial institutions in complex, high-stakes disputes across the country. He has served as lead counsel at both the trial and appeal level and represented clients before all levels of court in Ontario, the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada. His recent and ongoing experience includes acting as lead counsel for DEML Investments Ltd (a subsidiary of Centrica plc) in a $57 million dispute before the Tax Court of Canada; President’s Choice Bank in an appeal before the Federal Court of Appeal; TD Bank in disputes against the Attorney General of Canada before the Federal Court; and numerous other complex mandates. He is a frequent writer and speaker on topics including litigation strategy and tax disputes, and previously taught trial advocacy at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law for several years. He is a member of the Advocates Society, the Canadian Tax Foundation, and the South Asian Bar Association.
