Doug has been recognized in international reviews, including The Lexpert/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada, as one of Canada’s leading Intellectual Property and Litigation lawyers. His practice combines his litigation experience with expertise in negotiating license and product development agreements, product acquisition and M&A agreements, and other IP-focused transactions. He provides practical and pragmatic advice to clients on the protection and enforcement of all forms of technology and intellectual property rights, and has particular expertise in chemical and pharmaceutical technologies. Doug has more than 40 years of litigation experience, ranging from the most complex and sophisticated intellectual property litigation to judicial review proceedings and interlocutory injunction applications. He appears regularly before the Federal Court of Canada and the courts of the Province of Ontario. He has served on the Board of Directors of several public and private companies. Doug is the immediate past president of FICPI International and past president of its Communications Commission, past president of FICPI Canada, and past president of the intellectual property section of the Canadian Bar Association. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1976.
