Doug advises public and private companies on M&A, capital markets and corporate/governance matters. His M&A experience includes takeover bids, arrangements, private acquisitions and divestitures, privatizations and restructurings. His capital markets experience includes domestic and cross-border public and private offerings of equity and debt, initial public offerings and other securities offerings and monetizations. He has acted for companies, boards of directors/trustees, special committees, and financial advisors in a number of industries, including the real estate, financial services, pharmaceutical, oil & gas, and media industries. Doug has lectured on securities law, M&A, and corporate governance matters at universities and private conferences. Doug is a former member of the Securities Advisory Committee to the Ontario Securities Commission.
On December 10, 2019, affiliates of real estate funds managed by The Blackstone Group Inc. (collectively, Blackstone) acquired all of the subsidiaries and assets of Dream Global Real Estate Investment Trust (Dream Global)

On April 2, 2019, an investor consortium comprised of Anamered Investments Inc., ANTA Sports Limited, FountainVest Partners and Tencent Holdings Limited completed its acquisition of substantially all of the outstanding securities of Amer Sports Corporation for approximately €5 billion in a tender offer on the Nasdaq Helsinki stock exchange.
On April 2, 2015, Dream Unlimited Corp. (“Dream”) and Dream Office REIT (“REIT”) completed the reorganization of the REIT’s management structure to better align the management structure of the REIT with the interests of its unitholders.
Dream Hard Asset Alternatives Trust (Dream Alternatives) completed its initial public offering with the issuance of 72,617,739 units to ROI Canadian High Income Mortgage Fund, ROI Canadian Mortgage Income Fund, ROI Canadian Real Estate Fund and ROI Institutional Private Placement Fund (ROI Funds), which were then distributed to the unitholders of the ROI Funds, and the issuance of 1 million units to Return On Innovation Advisors Ltd.
