Jennifer Morton is a registered trademark agent and partner in Gowling WLG's Toronto office. With over 35 years of experience, Jennifer advises clients on a range of matters, including the implementation of and strategies for dealing with Canada's new Trademarks Act, Canada's adherence to the Madrid Protocol and the unique aspects of brand protection in Canada. Her practice extends to all aspects of trademark clearance, strategy, prosecution and opposition proceedings, as well as licensing, assignment and compliance with Bill 96, Quebec’s new language law. She represents clients in a range of sectors, including Canadian pharmaceutical clearance (including predictions for regulatory approval of pharmaceutical brands), grocery services, consumer products, financial services, computer software, social networking, sporting goods and apparel. The current chair of the Intellectual Property Institute’s Trademark Committee, Jennifer is also a member of the CIPO’s Director General’s Trademark Committee which works with policy officials in the development and implementation of new trademark prosecution policies and practices in Canada. She has been repeatedly recognized in the World Trademark Review 1000, World Trademark Global Leaders and Managing Intellectual Property: IP Stars.
