Melissa Miller is a partner at Howie, Sacks & Henry, practising personal injury litigation with a focus on nursing home negligence. She also handles hospital negligence, product liability, car accidents, slip and falls, and long-term disability claims. Melissa is a passionate advocate for the elderly and represents clients in nursing home negligence, long-term care, and elder abuse cases. She holds an Osgoode Certificate in Elder Law and is experienced in taking cases all the way to trial. Melissa has represented many families who have suffered losses as a result of nursing home negligence and is a long-time advocate for systemic improvement in living standards for vulnerable residents. She recently led a grassroots demonstration on Parliament Hill in Ottawa that brought together bereaved relatives, healthcare workers, politicians, and others to demand that governments work together to implement meaningful change in the long-term care industry. Melissa is a member of many professional associations and frequently authors, presents webinars and at conferences, and mentors young advocates. She was elected to the Board of Directors of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA) in 2017 and continues to serve as a member of the OTLA Executive Committee.
