For the past 40 years, Steven Chaimberg has been practicing commercial leasing and real estate law. He obtained his civil law and common law degrees from McGill University, is a member of the Bars of Quebec and Ontario. Over the past decade he has represented major national and international tenants in their entry into the Canadian market, as well as a major Canadian retailer in its aggressive expansion program. Steven has substantial experience with landlord/tenant relationships, and acts for lessors and lessees in the preparation and negotiation of offers to lease, leases, lease assignments, subleases and other required documents. His practice also includes the preparation and negotiation of real property related business agreements, and more general business matters such as acquisitions, divestitures, licensing and franchising. Steven has been recognized by Lexpert as a leading practitioner in Property Leasing, and was twice named “Lawyer of the Year” in Commercial Leasing Law by Best Lawyers. Steven has prepared and presented the Québec case law updates for the Canadian Shopping Centre Law Conferences of the ICSC from 1998 through 2019. He is called upon frequently to speak at real estate industry conferences and seminars, including as a featured panelist.
