Whiterock REIT Acquires Six Buildings in Quebec

Whiterock Real Estate Investment Trust, through controlled entities, acquired approximately $84 million worth of high quality properties in Quebec City. By November 9, 2005, five buildings were purchased from one seller group and a sixth, being an office building leased to an agency of the Quebec Government, from Devcorp Inc. Both transactions were financed with new mortgage financing supplied by Hypothèques CDPQ inc.

Whiterock was represented by De Grandpré Chait LLP of Montreal with a team composed of Fredric Carsley, Marc Rubin, Jo-Anne Durand and Philippe de Grandmont (real estate and financing), Daniel Martin, Renée Gagnon and Serge Vaillancourt (title), L.B. Erdle (litigation), David Kauffman (construction/lien matters), and Andrée Gosselin (labour).

The seller group of the five buildings was represented by Kaufman Laramée of Montreal with a team composed of Albert Greenspoon and Aubie Herscovitch.

Devcorp was represented by Lapointe Rosenstein of Montreal with a team composed of Denis Chaurette (real estate and corporate), Steven Chaimberg and Joyce Carestia (real estate), Jean-Charles Hare (tax) and Annie Buzzanga (corporate).

CDPQ was represented in-house by Madeleine Amyot, and externally by Beauvais Truchon of Quebec City with a team that consisted of Jean-François Pleau and Catherine Langlois.
