M&A specialist Tricia Kuhl has jumped from Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP to Norton Rose Fulbright.
She joins NRF’s business law group in Montreal as a partner, bringing over 20 years of working in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial transactions. She has handled matters in the technology, life sciences and healthcare sectors.
Kuhl has advised on the acquisition, use, protection, licensing, commercialization, transfer, and sale of technology and intellectual property rights. She has assisted with the acquisition and consolidation of healthcare sector businesses, including those in medical, optometry, dental and long-term care services.
Her clients have included strategic and private equity investors, multinational and local manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, service providers, and healthcare professionals. She has tackled complex legal issues in connection with pharmaceutical products, medical devices, and healthcare services. She has also guided companies on emerging areas like artificial intelligence and virtual care.
Kuhl helped an overseas pharmaceutical company navigate the legal framework that applies to public procurement in Quebec's health sector, a matter that involved the local distribution and sale of medical products developed and manufactured abroad. She also advised the venture arm of a major technology company on its investments in AI-driven businesses, such as autonomous vehicles and cyberthreat identification.
Kuhl made partner at Blakes in January 2014. She spent over 21 years with the firm. Previously, she was the in-house counsel at Titus Interactive SA and at Genset S.A. She started her legal career as a lawyer at Fasken Martineau LLP in 2000.
She was included in the Lexpert Special Edition: Technology and Health Sciences 2024. She received her LLB and BCL from McGill University in 1998. She was admitted to practise in Quebec and in Alberta.
Kuhl is part of the life sciences committee and sits on the Licensing Executives Society’s royalty rate deal terms study subcommittee. She is also with BioQuebec.
