The Association of Corporate Counsel has rolled out the second edition of the ACC Well-being Toolkit for In-house Lawyers.

The updated kit was released on May 29 and includes new tools to improve stress management and resilience and cultivate healthier teams and workplaces. In particular, the toolkit contains:

  • self-care strategies in the face of increasing in-house demands
  • burnout prevention tips focused on leadership
  • practical measures to cultivate awareness of meaning among team members and strengthen in-house work's meaning
  • stress management tips targeted towards the accelerated rise of AI

"In-house legal professionals continue to face intense demands and evolving responsibilities. This second edition reflects our deepening commitment to supporting in-house counsel not only as legal advisors, but also as people—leaders and community members," said ACC president and CEO Veta T. Richardson in a statement.

The ACC partnered with Latitude Legal and ACC members worldwide on the development of the toolkit's second edition, which has six checklists:

  • work-life balance, time management, self-care
  • seeking help during challenging times
  • assisting others with obtaining help
  • overcoming adversity, crises, and failure
  • leading an effective team and supporting the well-being of its members
  • AI-related stress management

New sections include a list of six simple breathing exercises, finding meaning through one's work, and tips for leaders on burnout prevention.

"At Latitude, we’ve seen how investing in lawyer well-being leads to stronger, more resilient teams and better outcomes across legal departments and their organizations," Latitude EVP and partner Candice Reed said. "This insightful ACC resource aligns with our broader commitment to supporting legal teams not only through flexible legal talent solutions, but also by sharing actionable, real-world insights to help attorneys thrive at work."

The first edition of the well-being toolkit went out in August 2024. The ACC's wellbeing advisory committee comprises The Broadhurst Group's chief legal officer and vice president of advancement James Patton, ChildAdvocateLaw.com founder Claudette Patton, GNF senior legal counsel Jill Kalliomaa, Word & Brown Companies general counsel and vice president Jeffrey Compangano, and Chubb senior counsel for global corporate affairs Rebecca Collins.
