BCI elevates Jeremy Trickett to executive vice president of legal affairs

British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) has elevated Jeremy Trickett to executive vice president of legal affairs, making him part of the executive management team.

Trickett stepped into the new role on June 9. He will report to chief executive officer/chief investment officer Gordon J. Fyfe.

"Jeremy has done an excellent job of leading our legal and compliance teams, and I’m pleased to welcome him to our executive management team. His expertise and international experience make him well-positioned to contribute to BCI’s long-term growth as we expand our global footprint and deliver diversified investment opportunities at scale for our clients," Fyfe said in a statement.

Trickett joined the company back in 2023 as senior vice president of legal affairs and chief legal officer. In that role, he led the legal and compliance teams which supported transactional, investment, and operational activities.

As EVP of legal affairs, he will also oversee the government relations function.

"I’m honoured to join BCI’s executive management team as we advance our client-first strategy in an ever-evolving legal and regulatory environment. I look forward to continuing to work closely with our senior management team and to leading our talented legal affairs professionals in delivering practical guidance that supports BCI’s and our clients’ long-term goals," Trickett said in a statement.

The BCI executive management team determines the company's overall direction. The team establishes BCI's strategic business plan, prepares the budget, and identifies corporate priorities; it also manages staff, operations, and resource coordination.

Prior to commencing with BCI, Trickett was Great-West Lifeco Inc.'s senior vice president and chief governance officer. He also held senior roles at BMO Financial Group. As a private practitioner, he logged stints at Clifford Chance LLP and Stikeman Elliott LLP as a securities lawyer.

He is part of the law societies of British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and England and Wales. He is based in Victoria.
