Women General Counsel Canada (WGCC) has named Lilac Bosma – who serves as general counsel and vice president, legal, of Canfor Forest Products – as the recipient of its President’s Award for 2026.
“Congratulations to Lilac Bosma, the well-deserved recipient of this year’s WGCC President’s Award!” WGCC said in a LinkedIn post. “This esteemed recognition celebrates Lilac’s outstanding contributions and unwavering commitment to WGCC, solidifying her as a true inspiration within our community.”
“So grateful to have been honoured as the recipient of this year’s Women General Counsel Canada Presidents award!” Bosma said in her own LinkedIn post.
Bosma expressed gratitude to her fellow WGCC board directors and to Heather L. Mullen, recently announced as board chair for a second year. Mullen is Kenvue’s head of law and corporate secretary (Canada).
“Women General Counsel of Canada is an excellent organization that truly cares about elevating and empowering women legal leaders in Canada,” Bosma added in her LinkedIn post. “It is a gift to work with an organization whose values are so closely aligned with my own.”

She joined Canfor in Vancouver as vice president, legal, in May 2024 and began her current role with the company in January 2025.
According to WGCC, at Canfor, Bosma offers practical advice seeking to support the company’s business priorities sustainably and ethically. With her commercial litigation skills, she strives to manage conflict and attain positive outcomes.
“She is known for creative problem-solving, clear thinking under pressure, and direct yet diplomatic communication,” WGCC said. “Her passion is helping those around her grow and reach their full potential.”
Bosma worked as vice president, legal of RBC in Vancouver from April 2024 to May 2024.
At HSBC in Vancouver, she served as senior vice president and general counsel from June 2018 to May 2024, as deputy general counsel for litigation, regulatory enforcement, HOST and HR, from December 2014 to May 2018, and as senior counsel, employment from January 2012 to December 2014.
From 1999 to January 2012, Bosma focused on employment and construction law as a commercial litigation partner at Edwards, Kenny & Bray LLP. From 2000–01, she acted as a law clerk at the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
She has served as president and chair of the board of the Pacific Theatre Company. At the University of British Columbia, she obtained her LLB in 2000 and her BA in English literature in 1996.
