Neda Bizzotto named Canso Investment Counsel's new chief legal officer

Securities and compliance law expert Neda Bizzotto has been announced as the new chief legal officer at institutional investment manager Canso Investment Counsel Ltd.

She is one of three new leaders appointed at the company; Canso Investment Counsel also named Heather Mason-Wood chief executive officer and Patrick McCalmont president. They join John Carswell, who continues to lead in the role of executive chair and chief investment officer.

According to Carswell, the new appointments reflect the time and resources Canso has invested in succession planning.

Bizzotto will advise on the legal aspects of business and securities matters connected to Canso and related companies. She has worked in law for over 20 years and has considerable experience handling issues related to securities and compliance laws and regulations.

She has been with Canso for over 10 years, initially commencing with the company as a legal counsel and compliance officer in May 2015, per LinkedIn. She was named general counsel in August 2018, a role she held for over seven years.

Prior to her time with Canso, Bizzotto was a lawyer with Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, working in investment management and securities and capital markets; she held this role for nearly 12 years. She received her LLB from the University of Windsor in 2003.
