Royal & SunAlliance Acquires Canadian Northern Shield Insurance Company

On December 31, 2007, Royal & SunAlliance Canada Group acquired Canadian Northern Shield Insurance Company from The CUMIS Group Limited for approximately $75,000,000 payable in cash. CNS is a leading property and casualty insurer in British Columbia, with strong positions in property, liability and private auto insurance. This acquisition results in R&SA being the market leader in general insurance in British Columbia and the sixth largest general insurer in Canada.
