Byron Shaw is a partner in McCarthy Tétrault LLP’s Toronto office. His practice focuses on a variety of litigation and dispute resolution, including corporate and commercial litigation, class actions, public law, securities litigation, appellate litigation, professional liability, and products liability. Byron has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, as well as the Supreme Court of Canada. He has contributed to a number of high-profile publications and co-authored Constitutional Law with Justice Patrick Monahan and Padraic Ryan. His writings have been cited by the Supreme Court of Canada and other trial and appellate courts. Byron is also a lecturer at the University of Western Ontario, Faculty of Law. He teaches Advanced Contracts. Some of his notable cases include representing St. Jude Medical in a product liability class action regarding defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization therapy devices, as well as representing Abbott Laboratories in putative class actions concerning opioid medications.
