The Capital Markets Tribunal’s securities proceedings advisory committee has welcomed Ghahhary Thomas LLP’s Dan Thomas, Torys LLP’s Stacey Reisman, Lenczner Slaght LLP’s Madison Robins, and Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP’s Daniel Szirmak as new members.
Thomas, Reisman, Robins, and Szirmak replaced Adair Goldblatt Bieber LLP’s Simon Bieber (Lexpert-ranked), Dentons Canada LLP’s Raphael T. Eghan, and Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP’s Lauren Tomasich (Lexpert-ranked), who stepped down from the committee. The four new additions join McMillan LLP’s Samantha Gordon, a Lexpert-ranked lawyer whose term on the committee has been extended.
Thomas is a litigator experienced in complex trial advocacy and strategy. He has handled corporate, commercial, securities, and public law litigation; he has also tackled white-collar defence and investigations.
Civil litigator Reisman concentrates on complex commercial litigation, securities law, administrative law, and class actions. She has advised on securities law compliance issues and acted for clients in shareholder disputes, corporate governance disputes, directors' and officers' duties, breach of contract claims, and other business torts.
Robins concentrates on high-stakes securities and shareholder litigation, complex contract disputes, and professional liability matters. The Lexpert-ranked lawyer has acted for public and private companies, financial institutions, founders, and professionals.
Szirmak focuses on securities litigation, including class actions, regulatory enforcement proceedings, and internal investigations. He has tackled disputes involving auditors' liability, contested transactions, insider trading, proxy fights, oppression remedy claims, and complex contractual disputes.

SPAC members possess good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. They are either currently practising or have practised in securities litigation within the last three years.
Each member term lasts three years, and terms may be extended. Also on the SPAC are staff from the Ontario Securities Commission’s enforcement division, general counsel’s department, and governance and tribunal secretariat.
